When it comes to saving money on your nuptials, DIY wedding ideas are a great way of doing so.
Don't be put off by the idea of DIY wedding ideas, I know you might associate DIY with a lot of hard work and mediocre results that look distinctly DIY. But that doesn't have to be the case.
The beauty of wedding DIY is that there are dozens of individual tasks that can either be done on a DIY basis or you can get someone to do them for you, it's ultimately your choice.
Why not start out with something simple like making images for DIY wedding invitations, a wedding bouquet or a wedding balloon arch (honestly they're easier than you might think). Then, once you get a little more confidence you can try other things.
Ok it means a little more work for you, but if your budget dictates you have to save some more money, then the DIY route is a great way of achieving your goals.
You can DIY pretty much any aspect of your wedding. I suspect many of you will prefer to use the DIY wedding ideas for a few well chosen items so that you can redirect more of your budget towards your "must have" items.
Perhaps you have your heart set on a particular wedding dress that is a little over your dress budget. If so, you may want to make DIY wedding invitations rather than buying custom made invites and then you can put the money you save towards your dream dress.
Although it is essential to get your budget prepared accurately you can fine tune it as you go along. You may want to save a little on some items to make sure you can spend a little more on your luxury items.
So what if you are not the artistic type? Don't panic, you can still get that unique look but with a little less DIY assembly. All you need to do is buy items that are part made and then add your own unique twist.
For example buy your wedding cake already iced in plain white or ivory icing and then decorate it yourself (the bits you will need such as sugar glue and icing flowers etc. are easily available online). You could also buy your own bouquet but make the bridesmaids bouquets and table centrepieces. The variations are infinite and you can do whatever combination you want.
In conclusion, DIY wedding ideas are a great way to add a little of your own individual style to your big day. However you will need to be really well organised, start early, get as many of your friends involved as you can and allow plenty of time. No matter how long you think it's going to take, in my experience you will need to double the amount of time you think it will take. Good luck!
